about me

My role is to deliver, as best as I can, what is needed to facilitate your process and to help you wayfind as you navigate your health journey.

I have a background in psychology and philosophy and spent many years in roles that supported health providers, as an assistant in clinics, as a policy writer. When I experienced my own health crises, the tools Western medicine offered me weren't effective on their own. I always wound up drawing in alternative medicines. Finally, after an accident and many years of chronic pain and dysfunction in my pelvis post-injury, I hit a wall with conventional methods and even many unconventional ones.

When I landed in the lap of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM), I was in chronic pain, 20lbs overweight, and my allergies and asthma were out of control. In two years of treatment (much of it self-directed because I was a student enrolled in a TCM program), I shed the extra weight, my allergies disappeared, I'm no longer in chronic pain, and my asthma doctor discharged me because I no longer have the condition. With ongoing acupuncture treatment, I discovered that I was suffering from anxiety and depression (as defined by TCM), which were completely outside of my awareness because survival-based fear, nervous system over-activation, and exhaustion were simply "normal" for me, thanks to childhood trauma and complex grief. Thankfully ongoing treatment helps me keep these at bay too.

I realize my own story of transformation is unique, and that it's possible I simply respond well to TCM acupuncture.

How is it that a few needles can do so much over time? Well, this is what is so special about acupuncture: It sprang out of cultures (Indian and Chinese) that, at the time, were examining the layers of being, including mind, body and spirit, and seeking to keep these integrated and harmonized in a way that was consistent with the prevailing philosophies at the time. Indeed, this traditional medicine came about at a time before Western academics atomized the mind and body, and compartmentalized them into so many separate parts. In short, TCM is an original wholistic, integrated practice of medicine.
